A visit to Rumah Panjang Samu

We're honored to join the Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister family at thier longhouse over the weekend. It was such a great experience, I never really been to any long house beside the one at Culture Village...(^_^) (Sua Ku!) I was really excited for this trip as I always wanted to visit a longhouse and see the people & life over there.

It's a long 4hrs drive from Kuching, we finally reached Samu Longhouse, Paku. After Settled down, we went to the river and release the fish fries into the river. After that, we took a short drive to Uking LongHouse @ Batu Lintang. A river side picnic lunch is awaiting us there...all the villager came and join us. We have to shakes everyone's hand as a greeting. (man...I never shakes so many hands in my life!) The people from Uking are so friendly and generous. They prepared a lot of traditional Iban dishes for us. Something I always wanted to try out. It's so yummy...I think I had a little too much till I got stomach upset thou...



After Lunch we had a great time dipping & playing in the river. Also get a taste of paddling on Iban's long boat. Funny note**Our boat sank when we tried to fight against the rapid. it's was real fun... will have the video up soon. After the River Fun, we went back to Samu for a R&R and makan Babi HEAD.... heheheh...hey..it's really GOOD!


After dinner, the people from Samu LongHouse prepared us some traditional Culture entertaiment. Ngajat & Iban martial Arts. Guest were invite to take part as well. too bad I missed out this part as I was too sick...I have to take a rest so I can join the drinking session after..:-P


Well, of coz...a visit to longhouse never complete without TUAK.

We'd plenty...believe me....Until we have sunlight cornbeef for supper. (^_^)

Oh Samu...Thanks for the fun experience. I'll be BACK for sure!
Now I can says "I been to Long House." as a Proud Sarawakian.

Selamat Hari Raya

To my anak,...Selamat hari raya... mana duit raya? simpan baik-baik ya... mali Kuching we spend it
I wasn't feeling well for the raya holiday...but still manage to drag myself out to join the festive day. Too bad, all the rendang..kari...lemang...ketupat are tasteless to me...:-(

I've to say something about the Layer Cake thou...
next time when U decide to put them in your mouth in one big bite,...
try to ask makcik how much time they spent on making it...
you'll then eat it layer by layer...hee heee
check out the "tulip" layer cake made by mimi....SALUTE!

I'm quite crafty yer know?

The other day I had headache thinking what to give as a Bday present for my very good friend...I think the best thing I can give is one of the kind, something made by me...hee heee
So, I took out my tool set, my bead collection and start to make a necklace for her.
It stir up my interest to make jewelry again after that...

Let's go up to "Gunung Gading"

Yet another outdoor weekend.
We've been really active recently, going back to the nature..hugging the tree...
get away from the city...
"Life in Borneo" means something different to me then before..

We started at around 12pm after settle everything at the chalet.
First it's pretty easy...doesn't look as hard as what they've said leh...
just some almost staircase steps...mah...
after 20mins..our legs felt as it's 100kg heavier on each side.
sweat were pouring down...it felt as hours we been taking the step.



After an Hour...we reached our first stop : WaterFall No.7
Everyone jumped into the cold freezing water from the mountain for a dip...
it sure felt nice...and cooling...All the walk, struggle seem to get its rewards.



After one hour of dipping...we're ready to continue...
and here's where the adventure started by a smartass.
**Sorry,..Don't really have any pic taken for the adventure 'walk' coz my camera might end up in the water.
I rather keep them safe in bag



Well,... we could've taken the easy & ready made way back
but without the adventure & spontanuosness, this trip might be a little boring.
Hope the memory stay with all of us...

Next trip..I wanna get to the summit. (^_^)v
